Mizoram CM apprise PM about state's financial problems

Aizawl, Apr 18 : Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla yesterday met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and discussed the state's financial problems.

Lal Thanhawla,who was in Delhi yesterday for attending the meeting on internal security, besides meeting the prime Minister also met the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and held discussion with them regarding the state's financial matters.

An official statement today said that Lal Thanhawla met Singh after the internal security meeting and also discussed with the Prime Minister different developmental projects in Mizoram.

"Lal Thanhawla invited Singh to lay the foundation stone of Sainik School at Chhingchhip which Singh accepted," the statement said adding that the date of laying the foundation would be fixed later.

During his meeting with Mukherjee, Lal Thanhawla urged the union finance minister to help tide over the state's financial problems, the statement said.

Sonia Gandhi agreed to visit Mizoram in the near future in response to the invitation of Lal Thanhawla during their meeting, the statement said.
