PM, Sonia to visit Mizoram

Prime minister Manmohan Singh has agreed to lay the foundation stone for a sainik school at Chhingchhip in Mizoram. In response to Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla's request, the PM agreed to visit Mizoram to lay the foundation stone, but could not fix the date yet, an official statement said here today. Lal Thanhawla met the Prime Minister on the sideline of chief ministers' internal security meeting in New Delhi on Monday. The chief minister also met Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and told him about the financial constraints that Mizoram has been facing.

The finance minister also assured all possible help.

Lal Thanhawla also discussed current politics of the Northeast India with AICC president Sonia Gandhi during a 25-minute meeting.

Sonia also accepted Lal Thanhawla's request to visit Mizoram at the earliest convenient time. Lal Thanhawla, as the president of Cricket Association of Mizoram (CAM), met Board of Cricket Control in India(BCCI) vice-president Arun Jaitley and sought his help for CAM to get BCCI affiliation. The CM got Jaitley's assurances.
