Mizoram passes vote on account

Aizawl, Mar 26 :  Mizoram assembly today passed the Supplementary Demand for 2011-12 amounting to Rs 783.33 crore and Vote on Account for the first four months of 2012-13 amounting to Rs 1,663.12 crore as presented in the assembly by state finance minister H Liansailova yesterday. Liansailova was compelled to seek Vote on Account as the regular state annual budget could not be presented due to the fact that the Planning Commission was yet to allocate the state annual plan outlay for the next fiscal. During discussion on the vote on account, he admitted that Mizoram has been facing financial problems due to payment of enhanced salary to the government employees in line with the sixth central pay commission recommendations. He added that conversion of payment of salaries to teachers from plan sector to non-plan sector would help in solving the problems faced by the state education department.
