Mizo Teachers to Get Salary in Next Financial Year

Mizoram government teachers on Wedesday took out a procession here demanding that their salaries on time as the Education Minister said that they would paid in the next financial year.

The teachers marched in a procession from Vanapa Hall to the State Secretariat and handed over a memorandum to the education secretary. The teachers demanded that their salaries should be paid on time and the government make sufficient allocation for their salaries in future. In the Assembly, Education Minister Lalsawta said the salaries of teachers for January to March, 2012 under plan fund would be paid during the next financial year (2012-13). In reply to a question from the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) member C Ramhluna, the minister admitted that the plan fund allocated to the education department was not sufficient to meet the requirement for salaries of teachers. Lalsawta said that while the fund required for teacher salaries for the current financial year was Rs 173.58 crore only Rs 113.20 was provided in the plan.
