Chidambaram to visit Mizoram

Union home minister P Chidambaram is scheduled to visit Mizoram for the second time to ensure that everything was in place for resumption of Bru refugees from Tripura. Chidambaram is scheduled to arrive in Aizawl on Wednesday(Apr 4) and after a night's stay at the Raj Bhavan he will visit a few villages in the western belt of Mizoram where the repatriated Brus were resettled on Thursday. On Thursday morning, the Union home minister will land at a helipad in Suarhliap village under Mamit district and from there he will proceed to one of his destinations, Damdiai by road. After meeting the resettled Brus at Damdiai, he will head for Tuipuibari village by helicopter, an official statement said. A meeting of concerned officials was held at Mamit district deputy commissioner's office today where chalked out security measures were chalked out. This will be the second visit of Chidabaram to Mizoram in connection with the issue of Bru repatriation.
