Aizawl, Mar 15 (PTI) Mizoram government constituted a
state boundary committee chaired by former minister C
Chawngkunga to look into boundary disputes with neighbouring
states, especially Assam and Tripura.
Officials said that the director of state land revenue
and settlement department was appointed as member-secretary of
the committee and C L Ruala, MP (Lok Sabha), Lalduhoma, MLA
and Wing Commander Lalnghinglova as members.
The terms of reference of the boundary committee
included study of boundary disputes and making recommendations
to the state government and also to conduct a study on border
fencing.
Earlier, Mizoram government had urged the Centre to
constitute a boundary commission to resolve inter-state border
disputes in the north east, especially between Mizoram and
Assam.
The state boundary committee was constituted after
the Centre ignored the pleas to form a boundary commission.
