Aizawl, Oct 4 (PTI) The severed right leg of a woman
found at Tlawng river near Sairang village, about 30 km west
from here was today accorded a decent burial after a formal
Christian funeral, sources from Sairang village said.
The religious rites was performed by Rev.
Thantluanga of Sairang Presbyterian Church pastoral at
Young Mizo Association (YMA) Hall of Sairang Dinthar locality
before being laid to rest at the locality's cemetery.
The right limb of a girl was found by crab collectors at
river Tlawng on September 30 and the efforts to recover the
rest of the body by the police and volunteers from surrounding
villages bore no fruit till date.

Khiangte said that a case was registered and investigation
launched while forensic experts had examined the severed limb
by taking the DNA.
He said that it was difficult to ascertain the size of
the leg as it was in a highly decomposed state and swollen.
"Inquest report suggested that the leg was severed with
sharp weapon like machete or knife," he added.
Reports said that there were missing girls from Thenzawl,
Sakawrdai and Vairengte villages and the relatives of the
missing girls have been asked to examine and identify the
severed leg, but no positive identification had been made till
date.
