The resolution was moved by the state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Lalsawta.
In the discussion six opposition members and seven ruling members highlighted the untold miseries and suffering of the people during the 20 years long Mizo National Front (MNF) movement.
All of them expressed gratitude to the people, the church leaders, political parties and particularly to those who were at the helm of the Union Territory (UT) administration at that time.
Some ruling members described the movement leading to declaration of independence by the MNF leaders as an action not supported by conviction.
Some members also called it a wrong politics which led the people into trouble.
They however expressed appreciation of the MNF leaders and the armed cadres for their solidarity for having had laid down their arms paving a way for peace.
Most of the ruling members participating in the discussion expressed gratitude to present chief minister Lal Thanhawla for vacating the post of the chief minister to accommodate MNF leader Laldenga in the government in the aftermath of the signing of the Mizo Accord in 1986.
The House then unanimously passed the Mizoram Protection of Interest of Depositors (In Financial Establishment) (Amendment) Bill, 2011 today.
Moving the bill state finance Minister H. Liansailova said unearthing of illegal investment operation like chiahpuam which involved 338.83 crores of rupees necessitated the introduction of amendment to the existing act.
