Mizoram ministers and legislators to get higher pay from next Month

Aizawl, July 28 (PTI) Ministers and legislators in Mizoram will receive a fatter pay packet from August one with the state assembly today adopting amendment bills to enhance their salary and perks.According to the amendments, the chief minister's pay and perks were raised from Rs 25,500 to Rs 70,000 and that of cabinet ministers from Rs 23,500 to Rs 63,000 per month.This includes salary, sumptuary allowance, family allowance and entertainment allowance.The speaker's pay and perks were raised from Rs 25,000 to Rs 65,000 and his deputy from Rs 22,500 to Rs 60,000.Ministers of state receiving Rs 22,500 would now get Rs 58,000 per month.Parliamentary secretaries and the deputy government chief whip who receive the same pays and perks as MoS will also receive the enhanced salary from next month.Legislator who received Rs 24,500 will now receive Rs 75,000 per month.Their travelling allowance per annum was enhanced from Rs one lakh to Rs two lakh, daily allowance from Rs 50,000 to Rs 50,000.House rent per month for all of them were raised from Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000.It was estimated that additional expenditure of Rs 774.30 lakh would be incurred annually for meeting the expenditure.
