BSF's Mizoram-Cachar sector gets new IG

SILCHAR: J C Pandey has taken over the charge of the inspector general of Border Security Force's Mizoram and Cachar Frontier at Masimpur near Silchar.

Pandey, who took up his new assignment last week, had joined the border force in 1975 as a direct entry officer in the rank of assistant commandant. He was awarded the prestigious Police Medal for Meritorious Services in 2002 and the Police Medal for Distinguished Services in 2011 for his sincerity, hard work and devotion to service.

Pandey has served in Jammu and Kashmir during the height of militancy and brought laurels to the force and the nation. He has also served in other elite organizations such as National Security Guard as Squadron Commander.

After taking over the charge of inspector general, Pandey has emphasized on maintaining cordial relations with the Border Guarding Force of Bangladesh to stop infiltration, smuggling and trans border crimes. He has directed troopsto maintain good and cordial relations with civilians living in areas along the international border.
