1st Supplementary Demand For Grants Placed in Mizo Assembly

Aizawl, Sept 20 (PTI) Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla today presented the first supplementary demand for grants for 2010-11 amounting to Rs 568.89 crore in the assembly, on the first day of the session.

Presenting the Supplementary Demand, Lal Thanhawla, who also holds finance portfolio, said that the main reason for seeking it was the increase in the annual plan from Rs 1,250 crore to Rs 1,500 crore as he had presented the regular budget in March before finalisation of the annual plan outlay by the Planning Commission.

He said that the highest priority of the government remained the New Land Use Policy (NLUP), the flagship programme of the government for which the Centre has approved Rs 234.82 crore as grants during the current fiscal.

He also presented suplementary demands for regularisation of excess expenditure for the year 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2007-08 amounting to Rs 378.17 crore.
