Mizoram Assembly adjourned sine die

Aizawl: The budget session of Mizoram Assembly, which began from October 15, was adjourned sine die by speaker R Romawia, here on Thursday.

The state annual budget for the current fiscal amounting to Rs 3,687.39 crore was presented in the house by Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla who also holds finance portfolio, on the first day of the session.

It was passed by the assembly late last night. Lal Thanhawla had earlier sought vote-on-accounts for two times as Planning Commission failed to finalise the state annual plan outlay for the current fiscal on time.

Two amendment bills, including Mizoram Municipalities (Amendment) Bill, were passed by the assembly today paving the way for Aizawl city to have elected municipal council for the first time.

The Mizoram Assembly also passed three official resolutions including a resolution to ratify the 109th amendment to the Constitution already passed by both Houses of the Parliament seeking to extend the special concessions given to Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste and Anglo-Indians for another ten years.
