Imchen also stated that Nagas are yet to form a national agenda because of division and disunity among themselves.
“Our foremost task is for unity and a Naga family,” he said. He also stated that ‘We are to work towards building an image of the Nagas wherever Nagas goes that Nagas are gentle, hospitable and doesn’t kill.’
The home minister was hopeful that the conference will resolve something important for not only the Sumi community but Nagas as a whole.
“This conference is an important platform to structure the future of the Nagas,” he said. “There is a stage in our life, during student life, we think a lot of things which we think are possible. But as time goes on, we realized that not everything we think possible during the student life is possible because of the prevailing system we are living in,” the home minister said.
Parliamentary Secretary for social welfare, women and child development Chotisuh Sazo was also present on the occasion as the guest of honour.
