Mizoram observes Vijay Divas

Aizawl, Dec 17 : Along with the rest of the nation, Mizoram on Friday paid tribute to its martyred soldiers, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war that resulted in the liberation of East Pakistan now called Bangladesh.

December 16 is celebrated as 'Vijay Divas' across India.

Let by chief minister Lal Thanhawla, the state’s dignitaries laid wreaths at the 63-year-old War Memorial at Treasury Square here today.

Besides top government officials, police officers, paramilitary forces officers and representatives of ex-servicemen league paid floral tribute to the soldiers who had laid down their lives for the country.
