Mizoram house tribute to late ex-minister

Aizawl, July 18 (PTI) Mizoram Assembly today paid rich tribute to H. Vanlalauva (72), a veteran politician and former minister, who died on Friday last due to lung cancer.

Making obituary reference in the House, Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla said that the death of Vanlalauva was a great loss to the people of Mizoram as he contributed a lot to the society.

Vanlalauva was born in Phulpui village near Aizawl and was one of the emissaries of the erstwhile underground Mizo National Froint (MNF) chief Laldenga during the peace talks between the Centre and the MNF.

He contributed a great deal to bring peace between the centre and the MNF and became a Minister of State in 1998 after the MNF government led by Chief Minister Zoramthanga came to power.

He was again elected in 2003 assembly polls and became a cabinet minister holding portfolios like local administration, district council affairs and fisheries. He was regarded as one of the most efficient ministers in the state.
