Aizawl, Jun 22 (PTI) Ten inmates of an orphanage in south Mizoram's Lunglei town were hospitalised after they were reported to be suffering from gastro-enteritis, official sources said today. Altogether 14 children of the 'Bethel Centre' fell sick and were taken to the Civil Hospital by doctors who visited the centre yesterday and 10 of them were admitted.Doctors said the orphans were were taken ill after drinking dirty water and said their conditions were not very serious.The water pipe connecting the orphanage was damaged due to the ongoing road construction work between Lunglei and Buarpui village forcing the inmates to drink water from a nearby stream for 25 days, the officials said.There were 104 children including few infants in the orphanage.
