Police said several labourers, including three brothers, from a nearby village Thingsul Tlangnuam, were working at the roadside stone quarry when boulders tumbled from above due to incessant rainfall during the last few days.
Biakthanga, 35, and his brother Lalthatluanga, 30, died while their brother managed to escape unhurt. Lalthatluanga was half buried in the boulders. He died after being rescued and rushed to Aizawl Civil Hospital. The eldest brother was buried deep and it took four hours to retrieve his body.
The large stone quarry located along the Aizawl-Champhai road and other roadside quarries in Mizoram have often posed threats to the travellers.
