Strong trade ties with Mizoram likely

AIZAWL: Bangladesh government is interested in buying bamboo chips, ginger and turmeric from Mizoram as both sides are looking forward to improve ties in trade, said state Industries minister S Hiato, who attended the recently concluded two-day Indo-Bangla Trade Fair.

Hiato told reporters that Mizoram, having vast bamboo resource, could provide raw materials to paper mills in Syhlet and Chittagong in Bangladesh.

"As a follow-up of the trade fair, North East Investment Meet would be held at Aizawl on May 25, which would be jointly organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and its Bangladesh counterpart," added Hiato. It was also proposed that a manufacturing hub would be set up in Mizoram.
