Mizoram VC appointed

Aizawl, May 17 : R. Lalthantluanga, currently a professor of biochemistry in North Eastern Hill University (Nehu), Shillong, has been appointed the new vice-chancellor of Mizoram University.

Lalthantluanga, who will replace the second vice-chancellor, A.N. Rai, will be the first Mizo to occupy the post at the university, located at Than-hril, 15km west of Aizawl.

The office of the registrar in-charge of the university today said the date of joining was yet to be fixed, as Lalthantluanga was still in Shillong.

Mizoram University, which started functioning in July 2000 and at present has 28 post-graduate departments, has been without a full-fledged vice-chancellor since October last year, when Rai was appointed vice-chancellor of Nehu.
