Heavy rains lash Mizoram, disrupt power for 3 days

AIZAWL, May 26 (PTI): Vast parts of Mizoram remained in the dark for the past three days as the 132 KV power transmission line got snapped due to heavy rains triggered by strong winds.

The torrential rains, which continues for last four days, triggered landslide in Armed Veng South locality of Aizawl as three cars, six two-wheelers were completely damaged with boulders tumbling over a garage place last night, Superintendent of Police Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said.

State power and electricity department officials said that the transmission line got snapped near Mualmam, about 45 km from here, affecting the southern parts.
