Pistols seized in Mizoram

AIZAWL, FEBRUARY 28 (NNN) : In a joint operation, Mizoram police and Assam Rifles seized 3 unlicenced pistols. According to police sources, two point 22 pistols were seized on Sunday morning from C. Lalrinkima, 36, a resident of Champhai Vengthlang. His wife, Lalawmpuii who is believed to have involved in the clandestine arm running was also picked up by the police for interrogation.
In another successful haul, the joint team also seized an unlicenced 9 mm pistol from Ningsiamniangi, 25, wife of Akbar Hussein who is currently residing in Champhai Venglai. The accused, Ningsiamniangi is a Myanmar national who has been staying in Mizoram for several years. All the 3 accused are in the police custody for further interrogation. Cases have been registered against them under the Arms Act.
