Film fest may heal 'scars of hostility'

Aizawl, Mar 13 : The Indian Panorama Film Festival will be held at Aizawl from April 27-28 next month, in view of which Mizoram Governor Lt Gen (rtd) M M Lakhera expressed that the film industry could be instrumental in healing 'the scars of hostility.' National Film Awards and Indian Panorama director Bhupendra Kainthola, on behalf of the Ministry of Information and broadcasting, called on the Governor at the Raj Bhavan today and informed him about the festival, its aims, objectives and the reasons of being held in Mizoram.

Welcoming the film festival, Lakhera said, "The scars of hostility are yet to be healed. Therefore, the youths of today need to be shown the right path. I hope the film industry could be used for that purpose." The Governor also hoped that Mizoram, with its unexplored natural beauties and peaceful environment, would have a lot to offer to the filmmakers.

He suggested that the film directors who attend the festival be taken around by helicopter to have an aerial view of the beautiful landscapes.

Several films, mostly award winning national films will be screened during the three-day festival, being organised by Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Government of Mizoram.

There will also be interaction with renowned Indian film directors, producers and film stars during the festival.

There will be local singers entertaining the audience in between screenings of films.
