Chronology of events in the Dhaula Kuan gangrape case

New Delhi: Following is the chronology of events in the Dhaula Kuan gangrape case:

May 8, 2005: A 20-year-old DU student, hailing from Mizoram, abducted by four car-borne accused in the wee hours. They dump her at a Gurudwara in south Delhi after raping her.

The girl undergoes medical examination, which confirms rape.

May 13, 2005: Ajit Singh Katiyar, a driver of a Noida-based call centre, arrested and booked under penal provisions dealing with abduction, gangrape and criminal intimidation.

May 17, 2005: Police raid Katiyar's residence at Noida and recover obscene books and packets of condoms.

Aug 8, 2005: Police file chargesheet in the case.

Jan 31, 2006: Court starts recording testimonies of prosecution witnesses.

September 9, 2009: The prosecution concludes examination of witnesses with the recording of testimony of investigating officer (IO) Seema Singh as 31st witness.

October, 2009: Court reserves verdict in the case.

Nov 30, 2009: Delhi court defers pronouncement of verdict to December 7.

Dec 7, 2009: Pronouncement of verdict deferred further.

Dec 8, 2009: Katiyar convicted. Court to pronounce punishment on December 10.
