An official statement said that bird flu was detected on January 18 at Sittwe district in Myanmar, the country which shares a 404 km-long international border with Mizoram.
The avian influenza was also detected on February 9 in the Tripura government-run R K Nagar duck farm where more than 30,000 ducks and chickens were culled.
The state government, apart from imposing a prohibitory order on import of chicken and eggs, has also alerted animal husbandry and veterinary department officials on the border areas to maintain strict vigil.
It was suspected that the avian flu might have come to Tripura from neighbouring Bangladesh.
