Monument in memory of Mizo freedom fighter to be built

Aizawl, Sep 10 : Assam Rifles commandant of Mizoram Range SK Verma today laid the foundation stone for a monument to be built in the memory of Mizo freedom fighter Khuangchera at Ailawng village about 15 kms from Aizawl.

Mr Verma also released a book "Mizo Patriot Khuangchera", written in Mizo and English by Prof Laltluangliana Khiangte, in a function at Khuangchera Hall in the village.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Verma said Khuangchera was not only a Mizo patriot, but also a brave martyr of India.

Khuangchera fought against the Britishers in 1890, the year which saw British occupation of the Mizo hills.
