IIMC to start classes next year

Nedumbassery: Classes in the four chapters of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) to be set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the country, including one in Kerala, are scheduled to begin from the next academic year, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni has said.

Addressing mediapersons here on Saturday, Ms. Soni said the Ministry had allotted one IIMC each to Mizoram, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala and Maharashtra. They were being set up as part of the Ministry's capacity-building measures in the media and entertainment industry.

“These IIMCs will start classes from the next academic year in some other buildings and the Ministry will soon make allocations for completing the infrastructure and related facilities,” Ms. Soni said. On the establishment of the IIMC in the State, she said a couple of proposals were pending with the Ministry. A final decision would be made after consultations with the State government.
