In the wake of the oil crisis, Aizawl DC C Thanchhuma today convened a meeting with the supplies department officials and Aizawl SP to review the situation.
The meeting agreed to impose restrictions on the sales of petrol and diesel and the duration of working hours for each pump, violators of which are liable to punishment under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. The meeting allowed petrol pumps to open from 0430 hrs to 2210 hrs.
Earlier, the department had instructed all petrol pumps not to sell oil in bulk quantity after which scarcity of oil gripped the state.
There was a big rush for petrol and diesel in every petrol pump in the city during the Past week.
