Central YMA advised the people to take utmost care of the fire to avoid calamity during this dry season. In a press release, the Central YMA reminded the people of frequent fire incident in different parts of the state causing colossal damage to life and properties. It also asked the farmers to clear the jungle for prevention of fire which may flare up beyond their jhums or garden at the time of burning.

A 12 day training of Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) begun in Aizawl today. Addressing the inaugural function, the Chief Medical Officer of Aizawl West, Dr. Thanchamliana asked the trainees to sacrifice their knowledge and hard work without expectation of reward to provide better health to the pregnant mothers. He also asked them to know how to give first aid to the needy persons.

Health Workers of Lunglei, Kolasib and Mamit Districts were given training today on Vector Borne Disease Control Programme of Central Government. In this training the new method of malaria treatment was the main topic and the training was given by  the Malaria State programme Officer Dr.Lalkailiani and Deputy Director, Dr. Malsawma.

Pre-liminary briefing on coaching for Civil Service aspirants was held in Aizawl today by the resource persons of Lord Krishna IAS Academy, New Delhi. The Academy is to open the Coaching Institute in Aizawl College in collaboration with Mizoram Youth Commission. The training course will also include Coaching on Combined Defence Services, Bank Probationary Officers and other examinations under Staff Selection Commission. Welcoming the Coaching,  Students Self Support Union (SSU) praised Mizoram Youth Commission for inviting Lord Krishna IAS Academy, New Delhi to set up the Coaching Institute in Aizawl.

Central YMA expressed grave concern on the spread of wrong informations about the Mizos and the YMA through Human Rights Watch Website which malign the Mizos and the NGO. It also blamed Mizo tribes of Myanmar presently scattered in various parts of the world for spreading such wrong informations while the Mizos understand their problems and treat them with love and care.

The dry leaves and garbages accumulated in the western part of Chaltlang locality caught fire today causing alarm to the people of Chaltlang. On learning the fire, the Police Fire Tenders rushed to the area and put the wild fire under control. 8 Fire Tenders were engaged to fight the fire for several hours and put it down without causing damage to the nearby houses.

Members of District Methodist Youth Association donated 25 units of blood for the patients in Aizawl Civil Hospital today. Their blood was drawn by the blood bank officials in Methodist Church at Electric Veng.

Aizawl District High School Games kicked off today in various playgrounds of Aizawl city. Players of 78 High Schools are participating in a week long sports extravaganza. Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton, Table Tennis, Judo and Athletics will be played in Mizo High School Field, Vaivakawn playground, Zemabawk field, Ramhlun Sport Complex, Republic playground, College Veng field and Kulikawn Indoor Stadium.
