Emami sets up 2nd plant in Assam

KOLKATA, Jan. 24: The Rs-700 crore Emami Ltd, a leading personal and healthcare product manufacturer in India and the flagship company of the Rs 2,000-crore Emami Group, has set up its second production facility in Assam. The plant was inaugurated by the Assam chief minister, Mr Tarun Gogoi, according to a company spokesperson. The Rs 50-crore state-of-the-art manufacturing unit has come up at Abhoypur to produce creams, lotions and ointments.
According to Mr RS Agarwal, joint chairman of Emami Group, “the new unit at Abhoypur is a reflection of our commitment to innovation and investment at a time when the world reels under a severe economic recession. The new project also demonstrates our faith and conviction towards the industry friendly environment in Assam”.
Spread over nearly 50,000 sq meters of land, the plant has an installed capacity to produce 5,400 tons of cream, 1,800 tons of lotion and 900 tons of ointment. The popular brands of the company in this segment include Boroplus, Fast Relief and Fair & Handsome.
